| Subject: The golden mare stands in shocked silence, a cold numbness slowly spreading over her. Her mind seemed to work in slow motion, barely registering. Dead? No....not her sister...she'd been so alive... She blinks, not understanding, not wanting to. If she let herself, she'd have to accept it. She didn't want to. Just once, just once, she'd like to be able to put it aside. She'd lost her father as a foal, her mother, everything. For once, she wanted to lose herself and stop being mature, accepting it. Somehow reason doesn't penetrate her mind, the numbness leaves her legs and without thinking she is running. She just wants to get away, she doesn't wish to see the looks of sympathy on their faces, or hear their comforting words. She doesn't want to mourn, she just wants to run...and she does. |
