Subject: The flaslight/torch nitpick finally explained?

You know how one of the big nitpicks on the show was always, "Why is it when M&S enter a dark room they always use their flashlights instead of turnng on the darn lights in the house?!"

Well I was watching that new show CSI and they had a scene that may explain it. For those who are unfamliar, the show deals with Crime Scene Investigations with forensics teams putting together the clues at crime scenes. It pays a lot af attention to detail and is really well done. Although it can be disturbing to watch at times. It's become kind of a surprise hit here. Maybe they'll start showing it in other countries.

Anyway, the head of the forensics team goes into this house where a crime has taken place (very disturbing episode!) and he uses his flashlight ("torch" for some for you ;-) ) to look around. One of the guys assisting him goes over to turn on a light switch and the lead guy says, "No. I don't want anything touched." He's very thorough about his work and knows a crime scene can't be tampered with. Well it makes sense and could explain why M&S do that at least in some cases. Maybe you all had already figured that out before but when I saw it I suddenly made the connection with M&S doing that.
