I liked the way Mulder seemed to be thinking of what is missing in his life. Because that poor lady only wanted to have a house, husband and children she was able to give him a different perspective on his life--what's missing that is. Scully has asked him several times why he didn't just sit still, have a real life, etc. referring to just what the poor housewife wanted so desperately to keep.

I think he needed to see other possibilities for his lifestyle.
