Several people have mentioned, in various places, that the "Triangle" dream sequence kiss was much more passionate than the "real" kiss from "Millennium". True enough, I suppose. This one was a little tentative, a little awkward. But I think, for the most part, that's how first kisses usually are.
Like our dear Mulder and Scully, my husband and I were "just friends" for quite a while before we became romantically involved with each other. (Not seven years. More like two. But then, we didn't have an evil, noromo shipper torturer, TV producer controlling our destiny!) Our first kiss was kind of awkward and unexpected. Also, we never spoke about it and went back to being just friends for several months before we finally began dating!
I think something similar happened with Mulder and Scully. I think, after the "Millennium" kiss, they took time out to think: "Do I *REALLY* want to change this from a friendship to a romance? Because, if I do, there's no turning back. Once we become "involved" it leads either to lifetime committment or to an end of the finest friendship I've ever experienced."
So. . .I've never been in the camp that believed they rushed right out of the hospital waiting room and jumped each other's bods. I think they went back to being "just friends" for the next several months, both mulled about it in their own way, and finally, during the events of "all things" they consumated their relationship.
Does that help??
