... in an interview once that the way the plotting of XF eps are structured is so that the viewers never know more than Mulder and Scully. Like we are always meant to be only as far on in the story as they are - that certainly wasn't the case in this one. Rob Roberts was carrying on living (what seemed like his whole!) life, getting hungry, killing people off, and then more of the same. Mulder must have been more than a little bit on the ball to have worked out *all* of Rob's motivations and lifestyle. Not very likely. My sister suggested Mulder was a bit like Lt Columbo, popping up and putting "just one more question" to Rob, to make him nervous. It was certainly a protagonist's point of view, this one.

I was also struck by the fancy wardrobe M & S were wearing. I know it's been commented on before, how they seem able to buy expensive clothes on average salaries, but in 'Hungry' both looked like they'd blown more than a few dollars on their clothing!
