I am a little dazed currently, knowing where to start: this three parter is such a fascinating and daring strand: there is hardly any future discussion to be had, because this storyline was dramatic and mindblowing and significant! It cuts to the heart of the mythology, that's for certain. I am amazed how much was crammed in to the three shows. It was a good storyline, on the domestic front: the artefact finding its way to America and then *Skinner* of all people putting M & S onto the case.

You knew it was going to be epic. Anything that starts with a major Character voice over is going to be significant.

It is all about interpretation here, I feel. We got ideas about the influence of the aliens' craft, symbols and the rubbing that was done - but how much of this is fact? How much are we to believe? Bad guys entered into it, seemingly, with agendas of their own - Krycek to gain the upper hand, Dr Bremar so he could keep a significant scientific discovery to himself and CSM out to get the immunity to the that the Syndicate to the virus they had so long sought through Cassandra.

I think there were grounds for feeling both elated and very depressed at the possible message the aliens were bringing. CSM, of course, saw Mulder's condition as the perfect opportunity to get hold of the immunity to the virus (uncaring of Mulder's fate!). Scully, on the other hand, sought nothing more than to save Mulder's 'beautiful mind'. Too many tearful moments to describe - but all M&S's scene's were poignant and very moving. I liked the comparison between the voice of CSM, telling Mulder to let go and the contradicting voice of Scully willing him to hold on and to fight the inevitable.

I was confused in places; did Mulder's so-called dream really consist of the scenes we saw? : the move to another neighbourhood, CSM and Deep Throat next door, Fowley round the corner? It is a very controversial view, if we are to believe that Mulder himself envisaged these themes. Maybe he was induced to think the thoughts he had - but that seems a highly futuristic contention!

I wait eagerly the rest of S7, to see if these themes are touched upon again. I was very affected by Mulder and the boy on the beach - I interpreted the symbolism earlier in the ep as: the boy is Mulder and he is making his spaceship, then he destroys his 'ship' as he is let down. In the end, Mulder makes the boy regain his faith, by building with him an even bigger craft! I also wonder if the boy is Mulder's son or plays that role, in a kind of fantasy.

We have a classic M & S separation in this: Scully seemed well out of it, in Africa, but I suppose the story ties together just about. And absence makes ther heart grow fonder.

Who thinks Krycek called the hospital about Mulder, when he had collapsed? Who thinks Fowley? I thought maybe Fowley tried to redeem herself by sending Scully the book, but it could have been Krycek, also!

Hear ye, hear ye : former Season Seven viewers: opinons wanted!
