Subject: Some "obvious" stuff
In reply to: Rab-id 's message, "Time for a poll...What "Obvious" thing did we miss?" on 19:49:34 08/10/00 Thu

Okay, some of this is only "obvious" in retrospect, now that we know how the season ends, but:
1.) If you watch some of the earlier episodes (like "Orison" or "The Goldberg Variation") you'll notice either Mulder or Scully making mention of going "home". Not: "back to headquarters"; not "back to D.C." and it's never "I want to go home" it's "Why don't *WE* just go home?" or "Come on, let's go home". This is beginning to lead me to believe that M&S were "romantically involved" even before "all things". They would, of course, have to be discreet and would continue to maintain separate apartments. And they would occasionally spend the night apart simply because — no matter how much in love they are — working with your lover would mean virtually 24 hours a day together and everybody needs some "alone time".
2.) The very existance of the "Requiem" baby I think was an obvious thing that most people seem to have overlookd. Teresa was an alien abductee and female abductees are supposed to be barren, but she was a mother.
3.) The significance of Jeffrey Spender's handprints alongside those of Samantha Mulder in "Closure". This ties in to the old "is Jeff really dead" debate that's been boucing around these boards since "One Son" but which has never really been answered in the series.
4.) Whatever happened to the nanocritters in Skinner's system? Are they still there? Does Krycek still control them?
5.) Mulder's answer to the serial killer housewife in "Chimera". After doing her June Cleaver routine — making him breakfast, ironing his shirt — she asked him if he had somebody who "took care" of him. He said "not in the generally accepted meaning of the term". I think he just meant Scully wasn't a typical "girlfriend". She doesn't cook for him, do his laundry, etc. But she does confront irate superiors, serial killers and aliens on his behalf, plus "take care" of him by using her medical skills to patch up all his ouchies.
