Subject: Season finales

I've been reading a lot of stuff on my fanfic list about how difficult it is to write happy stories, since the Season Finale was so "depressing". Does anybody here feel that "Requiem" was particularly depressing as compared to the season finale of previous years?
I don't feel that way at all! As a shipper, I think it was one of the best eps ever as it finally gave proof (at least to us shippers; I know the noromos don't believe and I'm honestly not trying to start *THAT* debate up again!) of the depth of the MSR. Even without the last line, I don't think "Requiem" was particularly depressing compared to past season's finales. At the end of Season Six we had Mulder locked in a mental ward, with Fowl Thing prowling outside the door. At the end of both Season Two and Season Four, Mulder was "dead". Seasons One and Five, when they shut down the X-Files were, I guess, the *LEAST* depressing season endings, as they at least left off with Mulder and Scully together and in good health.
If DD wasn't coming back for next season, I guess I would have considered "Requiem" depressing. But we know he'll be back, we know Scully came through her abduction experience okay, so I'm not really that worried. Is anybody else?
