Subject: island girls 'key' scenes! LOL!
In reply to: Islandgirl 's message, "Let's just go ahead and discuss" on 14:39:07 09/11/00 Mon

as if we didn't already know! sorry islandgirl, i love to tease such a hardcore shipper! :)

well, to go back to the whole did they - didn't they, i never got into that 1st time round, and have found it quite difficult to decide. the way i see it, the fact that we saw scully getting dressed with mulder half naked still asleep, and the other side of the bed seemingly recently vacated strongly suggests that they did sleep together. what i think i can't get to grips with is why. if that was the first time, and i see no evidence to contradict that, then why choose that moment in time? i can think of many other times during the last 7 years when it would have been more understandable. also, there's scully's reaction. we're told the whole daniel thing happened however many hours beforehand, and in the couch scene, she seems to have come to terms with what has happened and the path that fate has led her on, and what she has left behind. so why the reaction we got from her? which kinda leads me to believe that maybe they didn't. but that doesn't really make sense either. i wish i knew one way or the other! any one want to help me out? :)

i do agree with CW about mulder. i thought the woman was very symbolic. if you look back on the last 7 years, mulder has been key to shaping scully's future. she's gone from sceptical scientist to much more of an understanding of mulder's beliefs if not an actual believer??? :) i think thats what i liked best about all things. i'm interested in fate and co-incidence, and i was so pleased by the way GA put it into her storyline. i also thought the woman scully met was interesting too. (sorry - i'm writing this from memory, i didn't have time to rewatch and can't remember her name) she was a nice opposing view, especially in respect of the fact they both had cancer and the way it shaped her life.

i'd be interested to know what people thought of scully's 'vision' in the temple and what it meant. there's so many little things to think about in this episode, its hard to figure it out. anyone have any inspiration?

and i liked the way GA gave more life to scully's past re: joining the FBI and her possible reasons for doing so. did we ever know why before that i've forgotten about?

general opinion - a really great episode, especially for philes to think about! and especially good for GA's writing / directing debut.
