Subject: Scully's silly mood
In reply to: kande 's message, "Gotta love Vince Gilligan" on 05:17:50 05/15/00 Mon

Well I was watching the opening again and although she didn't out right laugh she seemed to be in a goofy mood from the moment she came in the office. She poined at the guy and whispered "who's he?" to Mulder in a tone that made me think of one of Mulder's old school friends clowning around. It just didn't seem like serious, work mode Scully. It was as if something has happened the night before to put her in a really good mood! Ahem. ;-)

Another thing about that in relation to the autopsy scenes is that I think those would have really made a statement if we had had a build up to that with Scully's behavior. If she had started out as regular Scully and then got all giddy and excited about seeing her invisible friend that would have made it even more effective IMO. Like, "wow, look what happens when Scully has proof!" But she was silly throughout the whole ep so there was no place to go. I still enjoyed the scenes with her and her new yellow guy. I just think that seeing a change in her occur would have been more dramatic and made more sense.

You know I don't even remember Mulder calling the genie a bitch. I'll have to go back and look to see what contxt he used it in. I don't care much for it eithr especially these rappers who use the word in all of their "songs" as some sort of replacement word for woman as if that's the proper grammar to use.

I bought the whole bit with the recovery of the invisible man. Maybe the biker went back and checked to see what he'd flipped over and when he started feeling around in the dirt he made a very strange discovery ("Hey there's something here but there isn't!") and called someone. I'm sure Scully would have gotten tons of credit and been written up in all the medical journals if her corpse had stuck around longer.
