I can see CSM keeping the information on the disc for himself rather than sharing it, but why throw it in the lake? Why not just tuck it in a safety deposit box (or that cozy little vault in the Pentagon for future reference?) I think he's far too arrogant and egotistical to just let himself die when it could be prevented. He may be a ruthless bastard, but I think he truly sees himself as doing what's best for mankind in the long run no matter what it takes. I can't see him just suddenly giving up and leaving the fate of the world in what he would no doubt consider far less capable hands.

I don't get what the big deal about quitting smoking is anyway. It's not that tough. Ok, I never smoked as much as CSM, (does anyone?) but I smoked a more than pack daily and when I started getting bronchitis 4 or 5 times a year and pains in my chest I quit, no patch, no gum, etc. I missed it for a couple of weeks. So?

I don't know that CSM would need to get chips from the ABH if indeed he has cancer. My understanding was that they were working on them in the Defense Dept. labs. I wouldn't think it would pose a problem for someone with his reputed "access". However, the cerebral inflammation might be a tad more difficult to explain. What's he going to say? Oh, by the way, a few years ago Agent Mulder was infected with the alien virus, the one you're going to use to wipe us off the planet, while in a Russian prison camp where they were working on a vaccine. He recovered but last year when he was exposed to a rubbing from an artifact from one of your crashed ships it reactivated the alien DNA in his system. I had the alien DNA transferred from Mulder's brain into mine because I hoped it could guarantee my immunity to the virus, and the added ability to read minds would come in really handy in my profession, not to mention feeding my delusions of godhood if it turned out I really could save everyone. Well, unfortunately there were some unforseen complications and now I really need your help. Somehow I doubt THAT would go over very well.
