Subject: Wish I had the Lit. references(spoilers for whole season 7)
In reply to: Melissa 's message, "Re: It was better the second time around.(spoilers for whole season 7)" on 17:54:29 06/05/00 Mon

CC has done a lot of things with children who are special--Gibson, Eve, Emily. I wonder if he is trying to put in either a Biblical reference or a reference to the ending of Space Odyssey 2001 where they show the embryo at the end? The astronaut was show to be VERY old (just like Mulder) and then the embryo/fetus shows up. In CC's version, the child/fetus can speak. When children take care of their aging parents, his comment makes sense. DD has an English Lit background so who knows what he was using as background material when he helped write this episode. Somehow I have a feeling that there is are a number of Literature sources for all of these myth episodes--I just haven't read too many of them.

I think maybe CSM recognizes Mulder's special place in the whole scheme of things--that M is the "Good Force" while CSM is the "Dark Force" to use the Star Wars analogy with a twist. I just don't want CSM to be the Darth Vader--even if he has done a couple of nice things. There is always "something in it for him" when he does anything at all!
