Subject: Another season finale, another point for ME!

I don't mean to sound pretentious my fellow X-Philes, I would have written: "...another point for all the Noromos out there.", but since I have found myself disagreeing with some of them in the past, I try not to generalize. Last year it was me being right about Fowley not being evil and truly loving Mulder, and this year it's more proof that my opinion that M and S aren't romantically right for each other is indeed right.

Last summer, miss Shipper extraodinaire *DitchedRedhead* and I spent a great deal of time arguing over the fact that I thought that Mulder would have been better off teaming up with Diana Fowley to work on the "alien" cases instead of Dana, because of Scully's constant questioning and disbelief. I thought that she considerably slowed Mulder's progress in those cases and that if they ever got a string of "alien" cases, that Scully would snap at Mulder, because she wasn't interested in going on wild goose chases in the middle of the night like Mulder often was.

Her response to that was that Scully helped Mulder do a nice and complete job and that it was better to take it slow so that they wouldn't miss anything. She also said that Scully would always follow Mulder, because she loved him.

I had no objection to that last argument, because I did beleive that Mulder and Scully loved each other, but that only SCULLY was also IN love with Mulder, but not the other way around. That caused another disagreement in which Detoured also jumped in when "Milagro" aired last season. They kept telling me that Mulder was jealous in that scene where he burst in the apartment next to his and saw Scully and Pagett sitting on the bed. Which was of course, because Mulder was also IN love with Scully, according to them anyway.

Well, everything is clear as day now that this season's finale has aired. Scully does follow Mulder in his quest (even if it ended in "Closure" when he found out Samantha was dead), because she's IN love with him. She probably stuck around so that when Mulder finally snapped out of his "alien" phase, she'd be there when he finally looked at her in that "special way" and fell in love with her like she's wanted for a while now, and they could finally be together.

It turns out that after all this time, Mulder's still not IN love with her and he still doesn't want to settle down and have kids like Scully does (she hasn't said it in so many words, but I'm sure that's what she wants). He's become even more wreckless than he's ever been, because he now has nothing to lose. Fox no longer has any family to speak of, so he's going to go at this alien thing full tilt, all or nothing, because he sees that he can't find comfort in the life Scully wants, however he can see that she and her family will, so he did the right thing and let her go, because he loves her to much to risk her well being again.

In short what I'm saying is that Mulder and Scully are two good freinds who love eachother, but who have nearly nothing in common and that want different things out of their lives. That is the reason why I'm a Noromo, they aren't romantically compatible, and unless there's a major change in the future, I say it just wasn't meant to be.

P.S. Hope this will be enough of a brain workout Ditched. ;-)
