with you! I always think talking like this expands your mind and forces you to examine just what it is that you think and feel about something.

I understand where you are coming from with the slo-mo, but may I suggest you take another look at those scenes, keeping this in mind?

During the VO during the teaser, DS says something about how it would be wonderful if there were a way of being aware of when life-altering expriences occur that lead inexorably to a certain place. I don't have the wording exactly right, but that's gist. The slo-mo moments serve to highlight just where there moments occur for Scully.

Do you remember when Scully drops the packet that's supposed to contain the autopsy results that Mulder had to practically force her into picking up for him? The slo-mo occurs when she drops it. If she hadn't dropped it, the xrays would not have fallen on the floor and she would not have realized that the wrong items were in it. The xrays were, of course, that of her former lover & mentor. This is the way she found out he was in the hospital. If she had not made the discovery (if she hadn't dropped the packet), she would not have gone to see him, she would not have reconnected with him, she would not have ended up on her spiritual quest and thus the dr would have died since the newly-enlightened Scully would not have been there to bring the new age healer to him. Not only that, but at the end of the ep, when Scully brought in the healer, it seemed as though the daughter was losing some of her understandable hostility and perhaps she, too, was beginning to heal.

If Scully hadn't dropped the packet, she would have taken it to the office and dropped it on Mulder's desk and she would not have found out about the wrong documents until Mulder had returned, by which time not only would the dr be dead, but her spiritual journey would have never started. Not only that, but she may have never found out about what happened to the man at all - Mulder may have come back and said, "Scully, they gave us the wrong documents" and perhaps sent them back without mentioning to whom they belonged.

One visual element that I really loved was towards the end when Scully turned around the woman only to find that it was Mulder was that not only were Scully and Mulder in the shot, but so were the nuns wearing the ultra traditional habits - one's I haven't seen a nun wear in eons, btw - G!.

I thought it was really cool that GA had put all three aspects of faith and belief that are explored on the show into one shot. Way to go, GA!
