Here's where we differ- I didn't at all see Mulder taking Scully's actions as "a slight against him." Where did you see it? Just because he was mad? And how would you prefer he have reacted? A big hug? A neutral reaction?

While we don't agreee on the motivations for Mulder's anger, we do agree that it was an appropriate reaction for his character. I can see how some people would take Mulder's being angry as an expression of his selfishness, but I really don't think that was the source. I do think the anger comes from that parent-child type of love, even though Scully is NOT his child.

Not to sound like a pop psychologist, but because this couple does not express their love romantically, they find other ways to express it.
