Subject: Didn't start liking Mulder until last season
In reply to: hairytoes 's message, "When in the world did you not like Mulder?" on 14:42:11 03/20/00 Mon

I'm sticking to my guns on this one.

Of course you're right about the parent-child relationship. But, as you point out, this is NOT a parent-child relationship. I was just about to make that retort when you did it for me. IF that is Mulder's explanation for being angry, then he doesn't see Scully as a partner, an equal. Ouch. That's gotta be painful to Scully after seven years of working together. Yes, Mulder is the more senior agent, but hasn't Scully more than proven herself capable?

To turn it around, how do you explain Scully's behavior when Mulder runs off without telling her where he is? Sure, she's worried about him. She doesn't, however, view it as being a slight against her (though maybe she should). Why? Because she knows the world doesn't revolve around her, a lesson Mulder has yet to learn. She assumes Mulder has his reasons for not telling her even though she may not agree with his reasoning.

Mulder is the one acting like a petulant child. He can go off and do his own investigating, but Scully can't. If he can't have it his way, then he'll just take his ball and go home. I wonder if Mulder was mad in part because Scully was able to go off with CSM and make it back alive without his intervention.

If it were me, it would only take a couple of "I'm handling this my own way" then hanging up on me for me to say "fend for yourself, jerk". I'm amazed Scully hasn't done that.
