Subject: Hungry, behind the times.

Hi all,
I just watched Hungry and I really can't understand why so many of you were critical of it. Sure there wasn't much of M and S but we have to accept that knowing the reason behind it.
I did like the monster. My only beef, as with most of the recent XF shows, is that he was too mutant. The believability that came with that classic XF subtlety has disappeared. But accepting that, I thought it was a good show. Have I been deprived of XF for too long or what? What made me very exited though was that because you all slammed the show I never bothered to read all the transcript all those months ago. So I did n't know about Silvia. I couldn't believe it when he knocked on her door again. I was screaming 'No , no , don't eat Silvia!!" He obviously did suck her brain too. She was so nice.

I thought the show's big theme was compassion. I had compasion for the monster, he had compassion for the people he was slurping on, the shrink had compassion for him and I too had compassion for Silvia and all the people at the meeting. And Silvia was so compassionate too.

The thing I couldn't work out is why didn't the monster eat just anything when he was hungry? If he had hunger pangs then why didn't he just hoe into a quarter pounder or something? Or was it actually the craving for brains that was his problem?

My only other gripe which isn't really a gripe is that Mulder seemed kind of surreal. He would just appear out of nowhere, give his little spoofy type speal and then disappear again. It was as if DD just lobbed into the studio did his thing and then left again. He wasn't Mulder. He was DD delivering the lines without becoming the character or even knowing what the show was all about. Obviously we know why but it really showed, I thought.

But over all I liked the show and if this is the worst of the season then as far as the rest of the season goes.......BRING IT ON!!!!!!!!!

Stardoe [Oh dear, my daughter is going to a b'day party at Macdonalds on Saturday. I will be checking out the staff there very carefully. Especially their teeth. Although that shouldn't be too hard with all those fake smiles floating round. ]
