You're absolutely right about Scully whining over the stakeout not being in character. Until I read your comments I'd forgotten that my first reaction to Scully's complaining about the neighborhood, etc., was "since when does this stuff bother you?"

The two cases were blatantly supposed to be parallel, and I think it was that beating us about the head with it that made it not work. Well, that and the writing.

It's probably just as well that this one was Scully-lite, considering the writer. Amman can write for Mulder but he can't write for Scully. His use of Scully in Terms was, in my opinion, among the worst, if not the worst.

I thought the monster part of this ep was interesting - the idea that we all may have a side of us that we don't want to face and how that can manifest itself. Of course, if she'd just pulled a Lorena Bobbitt she could have nipped this one in the bud, so to speak.
