WARNING
Okay, that said, I l-o-v-e-d this episode. I thought it had atmosphere and suspense. Two things that have really been lacking in the show this season. I was thinking "Oh, No! GA wants to write and direct now, too. Doesn't this show have any professional writers and directors left to call?" But she floored me...For many of the reasons you listed...let me address them.
1) Slo-mo...okay I wondered about that a bit. But check out slo-mo on second viewing and notice beating heart sound, the nurse's pen tapping, the clicking of the turn signal, the tapping of the window shade pull...Note Scully's carterish speech has a clue in it, she talks about slowing down the moments to find your life path...notice the slo-mo moments are important moments on that 63 hour path.
5) holistic woman is Colleen Flynn, seen in X-files once before as Michelle the Woodswoman in Detour. Coincidentally Detour was the syndicated ep. later Sunday night in my time zone. Also a big hello here to Detoured.
6) Mulder's crop circle interest was no doubt caused by the new computer generated data he was showing to Scully. He just didn't want to miss anything as he tells DS.

As for the Shipperness in this episode. Okay, who among us was not teased by that teaser. I certainly sat up and took notice...and in the end I WASN'T disappointed as I have been so many times before. The intimacy was there. Scully told Mulder everything, about her former love, about seeing a vision, about her feeling that her "right path" had led her to him. For the first time in this series, Scully was vulnerable and the tenderness on Mulder's face as she sleeps was well worth the wait.

who is even more of a GA fan than ever.
