Subject: Essential XF ep no. 1 Clyde Bruckman's Final Repose.

Firstly I have to say how absolutely beautiful Scully is in this ep. I had forgotten. She was being lit really brightly and there is not a single flaw in her skin. You can even see some faint freckles through the makeup. Her eyes are blue and clear. Her hair style was one of the better ones. She was just stunning. Nothing like the sometimes tired looking S7/8 Scully. yes, the the ravages of time do take their toll on us all but it really stood out in this ep how good she looked. I don't know what season this ep is from . I could guess 3 or 4 as around this time she did look her very best I think.

Mulder looked a bit boofy with his hair longer and all puffed up. Still young and handsome though.

Can I also say that for those shippers who are in season 8 now......don't worry. Mulder and Scully are so in tune with eachother and virtually can't take their eyes off eachother. The banter is great and the making fun at each of their personalities in this ep is also good. Scully is definitely not like this with anyone else. Nor will she ever be.

I always liked this show. As for the suggestion that Mulder will die of autoerotic asphyxiation......that wasn't a definite thing. Clyde only mentioned it and Mulder said "Why are you telling me this?" I think Clyde's imagination also ran away with him at times...and he was not always accurate. This is seen in his forseeing Mulder get his neck slashed by the killer. This did not happen. Also his comment about Scully not dying. He smiled about that when he said it and I think maybe there was alot of wishful thinking in his comment as he liked Scully. It could also be interpretted a number of different ways as could his other visions. He was never entirely accurate. eg. "Fat little white Nazi Storm Trooper" - why didn't he just say gas tank or whatever it was? The future is not fixed. It might be fixed at the time Clyde sees it but it can be changed by chance events such as Scully getting on the service elevator by mistake. Clyde couldn't see chance changes, only the future as it stood at that time. He was wrong about the future. He could be wrong about Scully not dying, as a chance event could change that. He touched on this subject when in the woods he talked about the big bopper and the coin flick. I don't know if he then realised that a chance event could change what he sees as well.

The end was very poignant. With Clyde in bed 'with Scully'. Another inaccuracy or misinterpretation. She obviously interpretted it wrong earlier but it did turn out to be true in a way.

I don't know how Scully could keep a dog that had gnawed on it's owner but I don't think she ever found out about what he did.

I took note of how natural Scully's reaction to Mulder being hurt was too. I like to go back and watch the old eps to see their interaction and this bit was very comfortable caring and natural. No worries about touching etc. Even for 'friends' . I love to watch the "invading personal space-there is noone else on the planet" interraction between them. I think we didn't have that much of this in S7 and even S6. Am I imagining this?

Anyway it was a good show. The only thing was that a thunder storm came in the middle of it and zapped off my video. I quickly put it back on and got the rest of the show but it will have a big fuzzy bit in the middle and I am quite annoyed about that. Still.....its great to be getting X Files again. I'm not so worried about trying to find out about S8 now. I will be enjoying the old eps too much.
