Subject: Can they keep the MSR alive in season nine??

Okay, a big question for those of interested in the MSR is: Can they MSR be kept alive without Mulder actually appearing in any season nine eps??
I think the answer to this is: Yes. . .*IF* that's what CC and Fox execs want to do.
From what I've gathered, season nine is not only going to be "Mulderless", it's also going to be "Scullylite". While GA will retain her billing as one of the stars of XF, I think Scully's actual role in most eps will be similar to her involvement in such season nine eps as "The Gift" and "Vienen"; in other words, she'll be in a scene or two, but won't really be the main character.
Given that set up, it would be fairly easy to make it appear that she is involved in an intimate relationship with Mulder (marriage or just living together while raising their son) during her off hours. She could make occasional comments about "going home to spend time with Mulder and William", she could have occasional one-sided cell phone conversations that ended with "I love you, Mulder" (do you realize we've never actually heard her say that??) and Doggy and Annoying Smiling Agent could explain her lack of input in specific cases by saying something like "She and Mulder were out-of-town that weekend".
So the question, IMHO, isn't "Can it be made to appear that Scully and Mulder are still together, despite the fact that DD is unlikely to appear in any season nine eps?" (Actually he hasn't *totally* ruled out a cameo appearance and I think if the last ep of season nine is really, truly the series finale, he'd probably be willing to show up for one scene in order to establish a Mulder presence for future XF movies.) The question is: "Do CC and the Fox execs *want* to allow Mulder and Scully to 'live happily ever after' or do they want to keep an angst-o-rama going on and also 'punish' DD by having something nasty happenen to Mulder and/or the MSR?"
