more and more unrealistic for their relationship to remain platonic as the years went by. I'm not saying it's *impossible* for a man and a woman to share a a non-sexual friendship, but I think in most cases, where you have a heterosexual man and a heterosexual woman who spend a *LOT* of time together and clearly care for each other very deeply and neither of them is involved in a romantic/sexual relationship with anyone else that in about 90 percent of the cases they do eventually become romantically/sexually involved with each other. And it doesn't usually take them six or seven years to get around to it, either!!
In most cases, I would say no more than four years, even taking into account the fact that they worked together and it was "against regulations" for two agents in the same department to become involved. (To me, this was always the weakest possible argument against the MSR becoming romantic in nature; Mulder and Scully broke the rules *constantly*!! Why would they suddenly become sticklers for doing things by the book when it came to their personal relaitonship??)
I still think CC's idea of sex and love are a bit odd, though. My husband and I were good friends for quite a while before we began dating and becoming romantically involved (and eventually getting married, having kids, etc.) didn't destroy our friendship, it only deepened it. It's almost like CC is saying: "a man and a woman can be good friends *OR* they can be romantically involved; you can't be best friends with your spouse or significant other". . .which has certainly not been my experience!
