A Granted Wish

“Mom! Mom!” cried Sarah “The king is back! He brought the princess with him! He’s going to be visiting again!” “We must get ready!” said Mrs. Franklin “Go tell Maria to find out what the cooks can make!”


“Maria! Hurry! We must get dinner prepared! Go ask the cooks to make the Kings favorite food!” Hollered Sarah to her older sister her mother and Maria worked for the king when he came for his visits to their town. “What would that be?” asked Maria. “That feast with the ham and mashed potatoes!” said Sarah. “I’ll tell them now!” she replied.


“My daughter Hailie would like to meet your daughter Sarah” said the king to Mrs. Franklin. “She’s right this way” she replied. “Sarah this is my daughter Hailie. Hailie this is Mrs. Franklin’s daughter Sarah.” The king said. “Good Evening said Sarah and she got up and curtsied to the princess. Hailie giggled. “Well it’s time to eat. Come girls!” ordered Mrs. Franklin.

“This is my favorite meal!” said the king “How did you know?” “You ask for it every time you come!” said Sarah. “Oh I do!” He laughed “Well it was great! Now why don’t you two girls go outside and do something.” “Okay!” said Hailie.

“What should we do?” asked Sarah. “Let’s go down to the mall!” said Hailie. “You’re not allowed to do that!” Said Sarah. “Just lend me a pair of jeans and a sweat shirt. I’ll fit right in!” Said Hailie. “How long are you and you visiting America this time? Your father always stays different lengths of time,” said Sarah. “I’m not sure” answered Hailie “let’s go to your house now!”

“This skirt and this top fit!” Said Hailie. Sarah giggled. “What’s so funny?” asked Hailie. She had picked put a plaid mini skirt and a striped T-shirt “They may both fit but they don’t match! Here try this solid blue top instead!” “Oh Okay!” said Hailie. “NOW we can go to the mall!” Said Sarah.

“Ohhhhhhh! Look at that little doll! He’s adorable!” Gasped Sarah. “I like that one!” said Hailie. “Best Buddies is adorable! I wish my mom would still allow me to buy dolls. She says I’m too old.” Said Hailie. “I like Springtime!” said Hailie “and I have enough money! She’s $158.00!” “You’re so lucky,” said Sarah. “Oh My Gosh!” Said Hailie “We have to get going let me pay for the doll first then we’ll leave.” “Good evening! May I help you?” asked the woman behind the counter. “Yes, I’d like to purchase that doll Springtime” replied Hailie. “Alright right this way!” said the woman as she got the doll down from the shelf she said, “You know you remind me of someone…… no you can’t be her although you look a lot like princess Hailie” Hailie giggled.

“What are you going to tell your father?” asked Sarah. “That I saw a cute little shop and couldn’t resist but go in!” She replied. “Oh don’t forget you have to change your clothes!” Sarah reminded Hailie. “Oh yeah!” said Hailie “Thanks for reminding me!”

The next day the two girls were walking around in town when Hailie said, “We’re leaving in a week.” “Oh that’s not very long!” said Sarah. “Well I better be going father said I could only stay out for a short time,” said Hailie “Bye Sarah!” “Bye Hailie!” she said.

“Mom?” Said Sarah. “Yes?” asked her mom. “I know you think I’m too old but I really like this doll! Do you think I could buy her?” asked Sarah. “I’ll think about it,” said her mom. “Okay” said Sarah. She knew her mom’s response meant no.

“Sarah the next 5 days me and my parents are going to go some other places” said
Hailie. “So we won’t be able to see each other much?” Asked Sarah. “Nope only for one day when I return” Said Hailie. “Well there’s always next year!” Said Sarah “and I can write to you” “Yeah” said Hailie “Well see you in a few days!” “Alright!” said Sarah. “Oh yeah and I named my doll Chelsea!” said Hailie.

“Daddy!” said Hailie “This is the doll Sarah likes but her mom thinks she’s too old.” “Well maybe if it’s a gift from the King she’ll accept it!” Said Hailie’s father. “Seriously? You’ll buy it for her?” said Hailie excitedly. “Of course! She’s your friend and deserves a good bye present!” he replied. “Daddy you’re the best!” said Hailie and she hugged her father. “Sarah will be so exited!” she declared.

When they returned Hailie ran to Sarah’s door. “Sarah! Sarah!” she screamed. “Hailie!” answered Sarah. “I have a gift for you!” said Sarah. “Really? What is it?” she asked “Here you go!” said Sarah handing her a rectangular box with teddy bear wrapping paper. She carefully ripped off the cute paper and opened the box. “Oh my gosh!” she shrieked with delight “It’s him!!!! Thank you soooo much!” she said. “Mommy look!” “Oh my!” she said, “ It is cute! I guess you found a new collection to start!” “Really mom? Thanks!” she said. “And thank you!” she said to Hailie and her father. “I’m naming him Ryan after your father!” she told Halie.


The rest of the day the two of them walked around together. Chelsea in Hailie’s arms and Ryan in Sarah’s.

During the winter break Sarah went to visit Hailie and brought with her Ryan and her other three dolls. Mittens Mittens named Charlie Baby Beauty Clara and I’m so Special named Hailie. When she got there Hailie also had three more dolls. I’m This Big named Peter Jr. Executive named Jonathan and Nurse named Sally.
