I think you're right about a couple of things--CC needs to take charge again and work to keep the quality of each episode as high as possible. He needs to use good writers, directors and good stories. I think each hit show has potential for a long run though, but the number of seasons will depend upon the story line. Looking at Friends here in the states--how many situational programs can you write using that plot, format, etc. Looking at the hit *MASH* which went for 11 years here in the States, each episode was a story in and of itself and the quality remained high throughout it's run. I honestly can put XFiles in that same category when looking at the topic of the series--it will just be up to the powers that be to make it follow along the same path as *MASH* (in MHO anyhow.)
