Subject: A new idea about the baby (Season 8 spoilers)

Okay, I am *NOT* advocating this idea, but it's one I can actually see CC doing. Several years ago, I read a fanfic where Mulder and Scully were married (no, amazingly enough, it was not one that I had written!) and attempting to conceive a baby.
In this story, her ova weren't viable so they used an anoymous egg donor and Mulder's sperm to create the embryo and it was then transplanted to Scully's womb by an in vitro process. So Scully was the mother in the sense that she carried the pregnacy to term and gave birth, but she was not actually the child's genetic mother. (This is a real process which some infertile couples use. It is less controversial than surrogate motherhood, because the woman who goes throught pregancy and gives birth is the one who actually raises the child.)
So. . .what if it turns out we've all been asking the wrong question?? What if the big mystery is not "Who's the father?" because we find out it's Mulder. What if the new question becomes "Who's the genetic mother?"
Scully would still be the baby's mother, as she would be the one who went through pregnancy and child birth. After all she's gone through, she obviously is not going to reject the baby just because it doesn't contain her DNA. (This is one reason why surrogate motherhood so often creates legal controversy. A woman bonds with the baby she is carrying during pregnancy regardless of whether or not it is, genetically, "her" child.)
In this scenario, Mulder and Scully would *STILL* have to have done the Naked Pretzel at some point during Season Seven; otherwise Scully would have been a lot more worried/concerned when she found out she was pregnant. (She seemed pretty happy about it, albeit a bit surprised, in "Requiem" and "WI/WO"; she began having doubts only in "Per Manum".) While this isn't my favorite scenario, I could live with it. Mulder would be the Daddy and Scully would, in a very real sense, be the mother. . .but it would still have that element of amibiguity about it that CC so loves.
What does everybody else think?
