Subject: Puzzled at use of stereotype?

Since I don't know either of your gender, I would say that a typical "threatened by strong females" male response wouldn't be anything that I would call complimentary. She is a strong, intelligent-well educated, beautiful woman who isn't afraid to question Mulder or any other man, for that matter. She is quite able to express herself, look for answers, and argue her point of view without putting anybody down. When Mulder was locked up in the psych ward, she was relentless in looking for answers to help him. About the only stereotypical word I can use is passionate but in a broad sense of the word--add persistant and dedicated and that may be my description of Scully.

I agree with your description of her and can add that she isn't willing to compromise herself or her beliefs by following the "go to college and get a husband" strategy. She lives alone and yet doesn't mind dropping in on Mulder at any hour of the night. We never see him really doing that but he calls her day or night on the phone.

If anything, she is a role model and not a stereotype, IMHO.
