Neil Diamond gets such a bad rap from some. I listened to him when I was little along with Johnny Cash, Harry belefonte and Ray Charles)those were who are parents mainly exposed us to). So he will always hold a special place for me. I saw him in concert years ago at one of the famous Greek Theaters shows.

I will say his voice is not nearly as good as it once was. He can't reach the lower register notes anymore. But he's still a great performer.

BDM I'd heard about the Boston Red Sox thing with the song. Why did they choose that song though? Diamond's a New Yorker.
The Red Sox were mentioned in the "Chase" episode too. One line was that "the only people who like Neil Diamond were Red Sox fans and some other group (I don't remember it from the episode). my first thought was, How about Neil's fans?!

He also his written quite a number of good songs, including "I'm a Believer" for The Monkees. ;)

Islandgirl, I remembered another current Texas shoW. "The Good Guys" is set in Dallas. You might like that one. The two cops and the situations they get into are comedic and a bit like "Psyche."
