Subject: Something that irritates me on TV shows

Something that irritates me on TV shows is when they show people who are supposed to be in a professional working environment and the men are dressed like professionals (i.e. in suits and ties) but the female characters are dressed like they're heading to a bar to hang out with their friends (i.e. T-shirts or halter tops and blue jeans).

I used to see this a lot on "Without a Trace" (which I watched only sporadically). In every episode, the men were dressed professionally, but the main woman character was usually wearing either blue jeans and a T-shirt or a really short dress. Last night I noticed it on my beloved "NCIS"; all the male agents were wearing suits and ties, but Ziva was, inexplicably, wearing a T-shirt and blue jeans. (I don't count Abby; she's a lab rat, not an agent, and it's definitely "in character" for her to wear quirky clothes.)

XF was good about this. They never had Scully running around in blue jeans and halter tops while Mulder was wearing a suit and tie.

What's especially weird about this is that it conflicts with all my experiences in actual offices. Usually it's the men who are trying to "skate by" with wearing T-shirts and blue jeans to work and the women who dress very conservatively and professionally.
