I'm glad you liked it so much. I'm not surprisd. It was such a great show. Congrats to your dad for making a good chooice. ;)

I haven't seen the episodes in quite awhile I remember the mirror dancing bit and the suit, and the Dungeons and Dragons. The guy who worked in the disco store that he got the suit from was Joel Hodgson, creator and star of Mystery Science Theater 300. He and one of the other MST guys popped up in a couple of episodes of F&G. I think they must have been friends of the producer or maybe the producer is an MST fan. One scene that always stuck ion my mind was when Sam got egged on Halloween by Lindsey and her friends. Poor Sam. The display of humiliation and pain is something I think every kid goes through. The way they portrayed the kids feelings and things that went on were so true to life. Lindsey reminds me of myself at that age in some ways. And the geeks remind me of so many boys I knew. I don't know if I was a freak or a geek. Probably both!
I also liked the opening episode scene with Sam going to the dance while Come Sail Away is playing.

You mean why wasn't Busy Phillips in the opening during the Joan Jett song where they're having their pictures taken? Because I think her name was listed in the credits after the show would start, wasn't it? I don't know why it was done that way. A contract thing? My guess was that she wasn't one of the freaks or the geeks but an outsider.

The kids were a good bunch of actors and a number of them went on to do other things. "Sam" was in the short lived Geena Davis series. What a waste, going from a good show to a bad one. And "Lindsey" was also in the Scooby Do movie. I heard she was on ER but I rarely watch that. And one of the guys whose name escapes me played James Dean in a tv movie and I think he won a Golden Globe and was at least nominated for other acting awards for that. It's too bad the show lasted only one season. But its a credit to its quality that a one season show was in such high demand for a DVD release. That came about because of a campaign by the producers and fans. And it still gets talked about as one of the best dramas ever.

I think that Joan of Arcadia has some of the feel and quality of Freaks and Geeks but I think F&G was better. What do you think?
I'm happy you finally saw it and enjoyed it so much :-)
