I actually visited one webiste where somebody said that *NATURALLY* the primetime shows on the broadcast networks are going to be aimed at the teen and adult audience, and that if parents want shows that are suitable for children under the age of 12, they should subscribe to cable!
Wasn't it just the opposite a few years back?? Didn't there used to be a presumption that network shows were G-rated (or PG-13 rated, at worst) and that if you wanted something more R-rated you needed to subscribe to cable?
I think society as a whole was much better off when the "default setting", so to speak, was clean, family friendly broadcasting and people had to spend a little extra $$$ or work a little harder to find it if they wanted "adult "programming. Now the attitude is to "push the limits" on the free networks and, if people complain about the dearth of child-friendly programming on the broadcast stations, point out that, for those financially able to afford it, cleaner shows are available on cable channels like Disney and Nickleodeon.
