Subject: I watched a little of it

I taped it to watch and see what the big deal was. I got through about 5 minutes. Bleah. The show is indeed for adults and yet its a cartoon. Kids are drawn to cartoons. Plus it's filled with animals. Most kids are drawn to animals. So we have a cartoon with animals and kids are going to watch. They shouldn't. In the first episode (what little I could stand to watch) the male lion (John Goodman) is anxious to get home to his female lion wife so they can be alone because she is in heat. That phrase is uttered a number of times. Now how does a parent explaint that to a child? Does she tell him about human reproduction or how it is in the animal world? Very confusing I would think.
Nothing wrong with adult humor but this is another poor decision the part of the creators. They gave us Shreck, a very sweet, touching FAMILY film. There were some jokes geared toward adults but most of them would fly over kids heads without a notice. Here the show seems to be geared toward low brow humor. Frankly I just didn't think it was funny. And after the whole Roy/tiger incident it's kind of weird that he will be portrayed as perfectly fine in this. Will a kid differentiate from the perfectly healthy looking cartoon Roy and the one he may have seen on the news severely injured? The project was already in gear before the tiger incident happened so I guess they couldn't change their premise, but I never likd the premise to being with when I heard about it months ago.
I pass.
