I never watched the show much but my dad loved it when I was little. i used to make fun of him for always watching the reruns, just to bug him. ;D It had one of the best theme songs. Nowadays tv shows rarely even have original themes. They either use rock music or have no theme at all.

I see a few more asians than there once were on tv but still not many and yes, we still have the 'four whites and one black' theme on most shows such as Criminal Minds and Numb3ers. The Unit had two blacks of their main 5 but recently they killed one of them off.

Some shows are more diverse though such as Bones which has a couple of females of mixed race, not even sure what they are.
What's still strange especially for me here in LA is that there are still so few Latinos on tv except for Ugly Betty. I noticed the other day on CSI they had a Latino victim in one story and I realized that's one of the very few they've ever had on CSI. Who knew Vegas was all white people!?
