Good plugs, Stardoe. The Torchwood DVDs are about to come out here so I can finally catch up on that. I think I would like TW to be adult, DW to straddle the middle & SJA be for kids. Do you realize that in the 70s, Mary Whitehouse who lead a "clean up TV" campaign found DW to be too violent & scary for kids as it aired at 5:15PM on Saturdays. I'm sure it seems like nothing now but the early Tom Baker years (& the brief Colin Baker ones as well) had tons of on screen deaths by strangulation, electric shock, etc.
