The more I watch this show, the more it remids me of the literature I had to read in my college English classes. Most of them made little sense and later I found out why from an English teacher who was in one of my grad classes. She called this sort of literature the "abyss" which meant that there wasn't really one right or wrong answer. The trick was to figure how the teacher interpreted the novel or story. "Waiting for Godot" is the one which comes to mind but there were plenty more. Somebody had gotten the idea that we needed to stretch our minds--I called it "mystery learning." That simply means that the students have to figure it out on their own and hope that they are "right."

As for Locke:
1. I don't think the submarine was real--nothing on that show is. It might be real but I question whether it worked anymore. I think Ben would have blown it up with Jack on board or they would have dumped him off somewhere out at sea.

2. Ben said he was a cheater and I still think they should have locked him up or left him in the hatch that blew up. He said he was born on the Island--is he a Dharma baby? If so, who on earth are these goofy Dharma people?

3. Why won't they find that island again? With satellite technology, it wouldn't be too difficult for anybody to find it. I doubt that there is a parallel universe but that could always be a possible story line. Maybe that box isw a portal back to the real world. Maybe there are other people back in the real world who are looking for these things and bringing them there. Maybe there are hallucinogens at work here.

4. I think that Danielle loved her daughter so much that she was afraid to mess up her mind. Danielle knows (or at least I think she knows) that her emotions might be a little unbalanced and that she is afraid to scare her daughter away. I suspect she wanted to see for herself if her daughter was alive. Maybe she will still get to meet her. Also, her daughter is a rebel like her real mother. Maybe she suspects that the blondie isn't her real mother.

5. As for Locke, I can't remember if he ever knew his mother. I think the guy who claims to be his father might be his father but then, maybe he really is a schmuck who used Locke's mother to get her money, killed her and then ditched Locke. I can't believe that social services didn't look for him. Also, did Locke ever remember a childhood life with that jerk?

Somehow I don't think Locke will kill him. He has had a tough time in life and my impression is that he just wants answers, not revenge.

As for the box? I loved the phrase "let's hope that the box is big enough to bring you a new submarine." Supposedly communications with the outside world have been broken off--I can't believe that.
