My fan(atic) friend also showed me a comedy/variety show from the UK called Friday Night something or other that David Tennant hosted. The humor was about 90% gay jokes. The cast had 2 very gay-acting comedians. All the Dr. Who parodying had gay jokes in them such as having Gay9 come to aid the Doctor, Tennant dressed in drag & played Rose. We certainly have gay humor on our TV but this was extreme.

My friend has been to the UK several times to attend DW conventions & he even tracked down the locations episodes were filmed in order to photograph them & keep them in an album. He has the autographs & photos of every actor from the show who's still alive. Anyway, he told me DW fans in the UK have a huge gay contingent. The League of Gentlemen show has done skits on DW & it's fans & (surprise!) has the fans wanting the Doctor in bed with them, etc. I guess their gay humor is the equivalent of our ethnic humor.

The reports I see about Muslims in the UK is very disstressing. They are very angry & very apart from British society which begs the question why not leave. I'm sure we have some similar Muslims types but so many here try to be "I'm not like those terrorists, I'm OK, I'm here to work & support my family." The ones in the UK were openly praising the Underground bombers which would probably get you arrested here. But of course, Muslims are not our biggest minority. Hispanics are now & inspite of thier Catholic upbringing, they like to party & cut loose. No religious fanatics there, thank God.

I bet the EU doesn't quite become a big single country. Economic ties are good but many are saying they don't like the idea of being outvoted by other countries & forced to do something they are against. The UK still isn't using the Euro, not every member is participating in Iraq or Afghanistan. We'll see but I think China is the next superpower.
