Since the commercial time is now longer & there is less show, the show doesn't want to waste time at the beginning for a theme song. So they jump into the show as quick as they can, some shows even just run the credits over the action. Also, blame MTV for our lack of attention for the quick credits & get into the show style we now have. Think about how many shows had theme songs that explained the show's premise(Gilligan's Island) or even narration (The Six Million Dollar Man).
