Wow, Stardoe, I am *SO* glad to see you say that!! I tend to agree, but about 90% of the people on the JAG board I occasionally visit look at it the other way. . .they think *she* is too good for him!!
As for why we crave romance on TV. . .well, I can only speak for myself, but it's not that I'm deprived of it in my own life. Quite the opposite really. I'm very happily married and -- while I certainly realize there are many unmarried people who lead happy and fulfilling lives -- I think the majority of adults do want a husband or wife to share their life with.
I also agree with your remarks about declining fertility. I always laugh when I see an actress/character who has to be at least 35 talking about how she wants to get married and have a family "someday". That kind of talk is fine when you're in your 20s, but by the time a woman is in her mid-30s, she's got to know her time to become a mother is quickly ticking away. At that point, "someday" is no longer an option; it's either now or never.
