I liked "L&C", too, SMH! And, yeah, it was set in a newspaper. Nobody has superpowers at the newspaper where my hubby and I work, though! And, I *guess* we could even call the shortlived XF spinoff "The Lone Gunmen" a "newspaper drama" as the guys did publish a paper.
What I miss are those mystery/humor/romance shows that were popular in the 1980s; stuff like "Remington Steele" and "Scarecrow and Mrs. King." I guess, technically, these were "crime" shows, but they took a much more lighthearted approach to solving mysteries than most tv shows do nowadays. Although the pendulum does seem to be swinging *slightly* back in the direction of injecting humor into mysteries; unlike the various CSI's and L&O's, both NCIS and NUMB3RS have some lighthearted moments.
