Start with these sites, and you'll learn everything you can about Canisius Basketball:
GoGriffs.com

WGR and TV cost more than the school can afford. The Buffalo News has one college reporter and he's been at almost every home game since starting at the Buffalo News in November. Sign up for the Marketing Emails. The SID and Marketing Staff are VERY accessible, even to those who aren't donors and season ticket holders.

Man, I didn't realize they didn't do that anymore. That is sad. Not everyone has espn+, so I guess if they can't get to the game they're out of luck.

Practically every other school I follow has live radio coverage, and not having a radio contract smacks of even more Amateur Hour. Although, the Bonnies couldn't come to an agreement a couple of years ago with WPIG after countless years of live broadcasts. Now the games are broadcast by a Bradford, PA station, even though WPIG is by far the region's dominate station in terms of revenue and actually sits right adjacent to the western edge of Bona's campus.

Since the NCAA now allows sponsors to have patches on player's unis, maybe barter with a local station? The station gets a patch on the unis in exchange for live radio coverage. It's a little cheesy but it's the way of the college sports world today, whether we like it or not. Might as well cash in a little piece of the action.

Here's the list of visiting schools with radio or audio streaming the last two years:
-Binghamton
-Niagara
-Siena
-Marist
-Buffalo
-St. Bonaventure

I don't know who else you follow, but of the MAAC, three of thirteen have audio streaming. Locally, there's more, but Niagara and Buffalo pay a significant amount of money for that coverage. I've been told it's in the six figures.

As for jersey patches, they're already being discussed. Frankly, the value of those patches is worth more than radio coverage.

You might say, "well the radio pays for itself in promotion." The school is more profitable on streaming and social, and it's not even close.

There is no way on earth the station in little Bradford, PA pays six figures to broadcast the Bonnies games, and that's for a team with a very large fan/alumni following. I don't know where you heard what you heard, but you had better check your sources.

The radio station isn't the one paying. At this level, mostly the athletic departments pay and then try to recoup the costs with sponsors and advertising.

Some schools might also have an agreement with a Learfield, Wasserman/Octagon, Van Wagner, or similar sponsorship/media rights partner and then that partner takes a massive cut of the expenses as well as the revenue to use the school's brand, content, and events for sponsorships and advertising.

Canisius tried that in the past too, and it ended up being more profitable to manage the sponsorship sales and service in house.

The school pays the radio station...
