Subject: I Must Be Up and Away!

The wounds left by the sword
of the guardian warrior
had sore weakened me.
I felt life, and the will
to live, draining from me.
But, Janora, that nattering hag,
would have none of it!
She nursed me with her potions,
coddled me with her hard won provisions,
and then needled and coerced me
until I made the effort to stand.
For, she knew that if I lay too long
I would never rise to fly again!
I rose to my feet unsteady as a babe,
and staggered a few steps.
I leaned against the cave entrance,
Janora at my side--refusing to let
me rest! "No! You must not lay down again!
You must walk, here, lean on me!"
And, leaning on her substantial frame
I walked. And, walked. And, walked.
And grew stronger with each step.
"No more. I must rest now."
"Aye, but, do not lay down! Rest here."
And, she propped me against the
cave entrance. We rested that night
and in the morning, I spread my wings
and flew! Not far, but, I flew!
My strength returns! Another day's rest
and I will be ready to return to the
Cliff's of Cree! If so be, there is
anything to return to there.
And, if this mouldering head can
be of any use to Belamane and the
dragon Tri-canorth!
Tomorrow, then.
