I've got to agree that if Schon, Cain are involved with this, they aren't in the same room with SP - if the tracks are being remastered would they even need to be? Don't think it will happen, and I don't see how, but stuff that would permanently divide us "ordinary folks" seems to be par for the course in the world of R & R. My brother ( a musician) told me a story about another major band where one guy publicly states "I'd rather cut my throat than work with so and so again, etc." (A year later they are back touring together.)

I totally agree that the more famous the readily identifiable "Voice of Journey" got, the more alone he was - there's no school for handling that, either. An old video of SP tapes him mentioning how even though Journey was growing in popularity, people didn't know, specifically, who he was. That, obviously, changed greatly over the next few years. Just from watching BTM it seems here were a lot of human errors going on; a sensitive, passionate lead singer trying to keep some balance and some sense of normalcy while being empowered, perhaps overly so, with success/fame, and bouncing between isolation and control, people riding with him with less of a spotlight glare, unable to either put their foot down or get off the train AND nobody able to reach out and handle the situation (sounds typical for rock bands) AND a manager who obviously wasn't any help. I often think how different things might have been, if they had had a strong, experienced, manager who knew what to do when their star is getting overwhelmed with stresses, and in this case grief as well, and could have smoothed things down with the rest of the band members. Granted, these are adults, but it's tough to step back from something when you are in the middle of it - I think we all have been there!

I think if SP got back with his old bandmates some would fuss, how it betrayed Augeri, blah blah. Personally, I think it'd be pretty gracious of Perry. That aside, I'd write it off (in the end) as R & R mania and shell out my last dime for the show/CD - don't think that will happen any time soon, though. If nothing else, if the retrospective sells well it just reaffirms that it's the "classic" Journey that is so missed, similar to the way TBF shot to #3 (although not JUST because it's Journey album - it's a great CD!)
