Very interesting! Great post!
Well, I waffle on this. With the recent news of Neal, Jon and Steve working on the Compilation together (although I'm not quite convinced it was in the same room at the same time)a reunion could be possible. However, Steve's comments in BTM and in other interviews states a very different story. He told Jon that "there's no going back" and it's my feeling that there is just too much water under the bridge, too much bad blood spilled, for them ever to be together again. I think his statement of "I never really felt part of the band" is very telling. And I completely understand it. They resented his presence from the start, and I'm sure didn't make him feel all that welcome. I just read the Time 3 booklet and Jon states that while Steve's mom was dying Steve would come to Jon's house filled with pain and sadness and Jon didn't know what to say other than, well the band and album have to go on. I'm not sure they reached out to him then or ever. And of course that is just my opinion. Being a frontman puts you in a class by yourself. He/She is the spokesperson for the band, the one that gets the most attention, and with all that comes a seperation from the rest of the band members and it's only human nature for resentment to come into play. Plus the fact that Steve was a very shy, introverted person didn't help. I look at it this way, I'm a supervisor, I have 3 team members under me. We are a great unit, we work really well together, and as far as the work is concerned we are a group. However, I know that they discuss things together that I'm not privvy too, and never will be because there is that seperation.. I'm in charge.. it changes the dynamics. Although I'm the leader and in the group there are times I don't feel part of the group. Just the nature of the beast.
But, if they are inducted into the Rock and Roll hall of fame, I can believe that they all would perform together.. and perhaps in time on occasion at certain functions it could happen. But I think the Journey of today is happy with Steve A, and I think Steve P is happy on his own and can go at his own pace, not be rushed, do what he wants when he wants and not have to answer to others.
Steve A seems to be a fabulous guy and I think they might find success if they go in another direction, and give Steve A a chance to show his stuff.
As Dennis Miller says "That's just my opinion, I could be wrong"!
Keep posting Charley!
