Along the lines of whether we allow equal rights for the volunatarily addicted among us, it is also worth pointing out the cost to the NHS because of long term smoking, and how pushing this addiction further and further out of society will eventually cut that cost.

If I was being cynical I would mention about the government dragging their heels on the matter because of the nice tax revenue they make from it, which continues to be sustained into the future thanks to all the silly-16 (or younger) year olds that still take up the habbit.

On the other hand, which driver would you rather be in a car with: the one who is under the influence of tobacco, the one under the influence of alcohol, or the one under the influence of cocaine? (For the basis of the argument, let us suppose that all the drivers have absorbed their poison of choice before getting behind the wheel, thus their hands are free to (try to) control the car :-)).
