Those dreams that tie two hearts that will never die…

Suddenly, two worlds started to merge. D’von could see perfectly, and then his vision was not his own. He could feel his own body, his own heart beating, but he couldn’t see the ground. His sight was merging with Xenzatoth’s, and all he could see where the forms of the sky, other dragons, and the ground far below. He would;ve cried out, but his voice was not his own. Soon, even the steady beating of his own heart was lost, and D’von was soon gone. For now, there was no such thing as D’von. There was just Xenzatoth.

Xenzatoth expertly propelled himself upward, screeching his reply to the Gold’s challenge. His wings beat heavily with the knowledge that the more powerful he beat them, the closer he’d get to the glowing form of his empress, his Queen. His eyes whirled with a longing, and he beat harder and harder, determined to prove himself for the glittering beauty that was Shrineth. Her beauty enveloped him, and he would fly forever to catch a glimpse of her shining hide, feel her soft touch for even a second…

The bronze tore through the air rapidly, willing to prove that he was a good choice for a mate, for a father! He wanted the best for this wonderful creature, and he couldn’t bring himself to trust that the other males would give her all she needed. He knew he could follow her, and that he would, if just to prove he would be loyal to her as his Queen, and maybe one day as his mate.

And near the flames…

The bronze spun around and followed the form of the Gold, never once getting lost in the thrill of lfight that dragons felt born for. For it was Shrineth’s flight, and why should something as trivial as flight thrill come between her and her followers? He streched his wings hard, eyes shining with the hope of following, eventually reaching the glimmering golden form of the Queen…

And then, she was gone! Fear filling his whirling orbs, he turned around hastily several times. Where was she? He had to find her, had to keep following… but how? Forcing himself to keep under control, he closed his eyes, and tried to allow his other senses to lead him. He could feel the wind's strong gusts, and with that could make a guess to which way she went, if she went with the wind. His hearing told him much more. He could hear the movement of the bronzes and browns as they flew off to go try to find her, and he could hear the gusts of wind. Then, he could also hear something else, very faintly; the sound of wings against cloud.

Getting excited, Xenzatoth opened his wings, and allowed himself to fly along with the current. Angling himself towards the noise he was sure had been her, he gave a mighty beat of his wings, and soared up. The cloud in sight, he could now see the faintest glimmer of gold. It had to be her!

Giving a loud shriek, he called ot her, for she should know he'd finished her task! He gave another trumpet; he was ready for what came next, so long as it pleased his Queen!

The shadows play in the shape of the man's desire…
