Date Posted: 937095869PDT After taking some time off I found over a dozen E-mails in my box today. Some some agreed some disagreed with my post saying that the guy had a right to keep the shark. Heres a couple quotes from my favorites: "Point being, if I would have hooked into a fish like that with that tackle and won the battle with a record fish of that magnitude (i probably would have crapped my pants at first sight) but I bet i would have kept it as well. If a person knew what the record size was and caught one knowing it would not be a new record, maybe that would be a different story. Your point is well taken (by me anyway) this poor guy did not deserve the bashing he recieved.".......... A good honest post from a nice guy. "I do not keep Mako's for table fare any more. I don't believe the resource can stand the pressure. "............. A lot of people said things like this and I certainly respect the opinion. "another day gone by pantyless......"............ This peice of mail was in a league of it's own, and no I will not give out copies. "You're right, Jim - it's a great fish, and a wonderful fishing accomplishment. I'm sure there are those who would have called him an idiot if he had tagged it (but not me, and I suspect not you, either). If he'd have brought the shark to a weigh station, and treated it like any other big fish, I would not have criticised him - even though I would still disagreed. Instead, the fish has been played for maximum publicity, and the whole thing has taken on a sideshow atmosphere. Fistfights over the fish and a police investigation over stolen teeth all leave me with a sour taste in my mouth over the whole thing. But that's just my opinion"........... This didn't come in the mail but was in a post over at stans board, a really good post! Good stuff...... Tight lines Jim [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] |
