Over hear are Marlin fishing is limited to a few catches a year. It wasn't always the case, relentless fishing drove the numbers down. You've kind of stumbled into a debate on taking large fish "trophy hunting". A large record breaking Mako was taken recently and a lot of people are pretty upset about it. So don't be surprised if you get a few posts like Rocky's below. I would suggest that you guys think about conservation issues. It may seem like a unlimited resource out there but it's not. Do you have any tagging programs in place, or do any of your anglers practice tag and release. As they say release for the future.
