Hiya!,

Mind you, I have no underwater experiences with tiger sharks...

This is on here say from a local elasmobranch ecologists. Every winter he comes in contact with tiger sharks. Often, it is more then one at a time. Just yesterday he told me that he would look to his left and 50' away is a tiger...then he would look to his right and 50' away there is a tiger. Now he said these sharks average 4 - 5 meters, so there fairly small in size. The closest they have come to him is about 15', but never bothered them other then that. I said this in another post...they usually make a investigative pass.

I find it funny that you shark turned away when you raised your spear gun (My opinion). This tells me that is had to have some experience with a speargun before...or there might be another reason, but I will not comment on it to prevent an argument. They normal can careless about the speargun...unless the before mentioned experience, but that would show signs of memory and inteligents...WOW are we on to something??? 8-)

I am glad that you were not bitten. BUT, I think that there was reason to assume that he would have attack...because there were no signs of aggression...unless you didn't share it with us. You did the smart theng by getting out of the water...safety first.

FISH ON!!,

-BB-
