Me too! Got to stay home with the pets and watch my DVD of "Castle" season 1. I should have gotten more work done, but I did shovel the steps and driveway and the patio and a path for the dogs, so I figured that is enough work for a snow day! It is still snowing so I will probably have to do it all over again tomorrow. Not sure if we will have school or not but today was nice. Pleasant to open the picture window in the family room, put my feet up on the coffee table with a nice hot cup of tea and watch the snowfall.

Some of the flakes were HUGE this morning. Snow to taper off by midnight but tomorrow, wind chills could get around minus 20 degrees! NASTY!

That looks like my yard. Well, except that mine has a big chunk of frozen ice in it.

We had a slight cover of snow this am with another "blast" expected tomorrow afternoon. Never seem to know exactly what to expect, but that's part of what makes it so wonderful. (So long as I don't have to drive in it!)

[> Just rain for us -- HeatherM, 18:31:54 01/10/11 Mon

Maybe one day Florida will see some snow. All we had today was rain. I found it pretty funny that the two times we had rain today were at 10:45 as the kindergarten classes were on our way to recess and then at 2:00 during dismissal.

We have a 2 hour late start today, so I'd better get moving! Might get a little more, but the wind is supposed to pick up, so some drifting is possible. It is pretty though!

Hmph. No snow day for us.
Though the roads were downright scary to drive on last night (lots of wrecks all over town from people sliding), they still opened school. Now, I'm not a weenie when it comes to snow because I'm from the snowglobe that is the northeast, but they are terrible at clearing the roads where I live in southwest MO and it's very unsafe to drive on some of the side streets.
It also doesn't help that the superintendent of the public schools is from New Hampshire and that means school is hardly ever canceled. I guess it's just annoying when all the surrounding towns are out of school for the day, but we're not.
Oh well. It's a good hot chocolate and candle kind of day!

6 inches here in northern MS! It's such a special treat for us that the kids built 3 snowmen!

[> [> Cold in Kansas! Burr! -- Debbie S., 15:30:31 01/12/11 Wed

The forecasters said it is colder today in KC than it is in Alaska! That just doesn't seem RIGHT! BURRR!! It was 0 this morning when I left for work and a balmy 14 when I got off!! In the 20s tomorrow! Wow, a HEAT wave!

[> "Snowday" #4 in a row -- BC, 05:48:14 01/13/11 Thu

Our county's schools "called out" again today - 4th day in a row!
My "money" is on our being out again tomorrow for day #5 'cause today's temps aren't going to rise above "freezing" - expected "high" 'round 26 degrees.

On my way to MTSU this morning ...
gonna pick up my new textbook - "American Government and Politics Today" ...
I'm looking forward to this class!

I hope everyone has a great day!

[> Wah....still no snow -- HeatherM, 14:45:49 01/13/11 Thu

So apparently Florida is now the only state that hasn't gotten snow this winter. This morning it was 29 degrees....I think we deserve some snow down here.

Yep! I agree Heather! If it's gonna get that cold, there should at least be a few snowflakes along with the freezin' temps! :)
I hope you guys get at least one snowfall before winter is over.
btw, my intuition was correct - the schools in our county are closed again tomorrow for "Snowday" #5 ...
so, we've almost used up all of the allowable (built-in) "snowdays" before they start adding on extra "make-up" days to the end of the school year.

[> [> Camelot -- LauraG, 10:22:35 01/14/11 Fri

I'm pleased with conditions here. Lately we've gotten snow in the late afternoon, then by morning its started to rain and the snow disappears.
We've had several late starts, but seldom have the whole day off. (No make-up days!)

The only problem is that the rivers are getting awfully high.

Well, we are home today. Really doesn't look like much snow, but I think some of the roads were slick and some drifting. We only have 1 build in snow day , so anything else will be tacked onto the end of the school year. I hope we don't have any more! Give me late starts and early outs :) Hope everyone is doing well. BC do you have any good bus driving stories when there was nasty weather?

I don't know why ...
but lately, when I try to edit my posts they duplicate themselves and begin a new thread ...
so my answer to your question ended up in another location JennOK!
sorry 'bout that!
