Loved it! One of the best fliks this winter, along with Tresure Planet IMO. Was it faithful to the book? Yes and no, parts of it were quite true to the story, and other parts were way off for dramtic purposes. Mind you I've only started reading the books, I've got the three in one set so I'm only on the first book "The Fellowship" and haven't even gotten to Rivendell yet.

>>-The Rousing of the Ents. in the Movie, the way its done is quite hasty (though more climatic), and the Ents from the book are FAAAAR from hasty.<<

I did notice that, but seeing as the movie had to be cut to be roughly 3 hours in lenght I could deal with that fact. Though if you watched the credits it's Davis (Gimil) who provides the voice of Treebeard which I was thrilled about, I'd been hearing rumor that it was going to be O'Connery (James Bond fame) who was going to be playing the voice of the lead Ent.

>>-Faramir's character is FAAAAAAAAr Different from the book's. Theoden is also rather different.<<

Agreed. He's close to Aragon then to Bohimar which is why he becomes a friend of Aragon's in the third book. *Been skimming a head to keep up with the movies* And in the books he was a lot kinder to Frodo and Sam.

>>-The Ring in front of a Nazgul in Minas Tirith. in the book, its mentioned over and over again that Frodo's only advantage over Sauron is the fact that Sauron doesnt' suspect whats the Fellowship's plan with the Ring BECAUSE he ignores where the ring went after Amon Hen. Now if a Nazgul saw the ring RIGHT on Sauron's border, thats kinda blow THAT part of Frodo's cover. i do wonder how'll they fix that up.<<

Simple they'll have an army go after Frodo and capture him thinking he has the ring, and that's why Sam will put on the ring and so forth.

>>-WHERE ARE THE HUORNS !!!!!!!!!!!! I Loved them in the book, i wished they came at Helms Deep like they do in the book.<<

Forgive my stupidity but what are the Huorns?

Now as for my own:

Why did they have to kill off Halidas(I think that's how they spell it, hard to find the characters names)? Yes he was a small character, but still manages to make an impact.

And what was the reasoning behind leaving off the fight with Saurumon at the end of the book? We wind up just seeing him stand there looking dumbfounded at the distruction of his plans.

Differences i liked:
>>-The Lorien/Rivendell Elves coming to Helm's Deep to "Honor the last alliance"<<

Agree,and I was supprised at the fact that the King wouldn't think of blocking up the pipe if he were moving the women underground. Wouldn't he think that that little pipeline could be a very serious threat?{

>We see more of Wormtounge in the movie, i liked it.<<

Agreed, and I like the fact that they gave Gollum more of a sympathic personality. In the book, so far as I have read, he's a bit more psycotic then scizco.

The Balrog's battle<<

I wonder if there was a tip of the hat with that sequence to the famed stop motion/animation effects wizard who created King Cong. Because for me the character looked more cell animated then CGI or life like.

Faithful parts i was glad to see:
-Legolas and Gimli counting their kills (in the book, Gimli end up winning by one kill)<<

Good sequence, though I would like it if Legolas would rib Gimli a bit more as he did in the books.

-Gandalf's encounter with the fellowship (ie: he blocks the arrows/axe fired/thrown at him, and heats up Aragorns's sword)<<

That was interesting, and I like the way that he did so while looking slightly deadpan in expression.

Now I have two quick questions: 1) Does a wizard have to die inorder to get his powers advanced? 2) What are the other levels of wizard? I know white and gray are on top, but what are the other 3, I've been guessing Green, Blue and Red, but I'm not sure.
