You do raise good points-one of the reasons I'm glad you're willing to debate these issues with the rest of us :). What worries me is this personal vendetta against Saddam. I understand Bush's anger towards the man, and he has a right to be, but he is a main representation of the United States, and his words are viewed as a "voice of the people". So if this is about a personal vendetta then he should curb that agression and apply it to a more productive situation -such as dealing with the massive internal problems with corperations-rather then being gunn-ho about attacking Iraq.

The recent issue of the Kwuiti(sp?) who murdered two Americans makes me very nervous about the fact that hostility towards our goverment may come back and hit the citizens. After all people, even the most rational at times, will lash out at others that they feel embodies a type of evil. And those who are irrational, well we've seen what they can do all over the world -the bombing of embassies and countries (Australia and the US), not to mention suicide bombers.

Right now I think the US, rather then giving this big push for war, should try and rebuild bridges that they burned, and keep an eye on other situations that are more voilital. (Pakastan and India for one, and South and North Korea for another.)

There was a letter to the editor in the Sun-Times on tuesday: If tables were turned

Imagine, if you can, the United Nations one day developing a backbone and standing up to the countries of the world whose weapons of mass destruction pose a threat to other nations. Imagine the United Nations telling a nation with an arsenal of weapons of mass destruction that it must disclose to the UN all its weapons or face being forced to disarm.

Imagine that the UN would set a deadline for those weapons to be turned over or destroyed. Imagine if the UN enforced that threatened deadline by building up armies along the borders of this country and moving armadas of warships into the waters surrounding this country. Imagine the fear that the people of this country would be feeling.

Now imagine that the country in violation of the UN rules was the United States of America.

Bill Sarto,

I'm just wondering what you think about this letter? (Note, no sarcasim in the voice.)

DS
